Hi Jennifer, There are many possibilities-if you changed 100% of the water when you cleaned the tank out you will have inadvertently killed off the eco-system which keeps the tank healthy. You may also have used water which was not treated with dechlorinator-this means the harmful chemicals from the tap water will be poisoning the fish. Another possibility is you have overfed it.

I take it you have absolutely no idea what you are doing so the best advice I can give you is 1. stop interfering with him, leave him be & 2. study the link below & see if there is anything you pick up from it which may help the situation.

Did you put dechlorinater in when you changed the water?

  3. Fishlover Says:

make sure you used a dechlorinating stuff to make the water safe.

Ok fish dont sleep on their backs like people. When they are sleeping they just stop moving and kinda float where ever they are at. Top bottom or middle of the tank. So if he is upside down that is a problem. It could be he is dieing and it could be a problem with his swim bladder.

There may be chemicals in the water! Even just from tap water. Did you use a cleaner on the tank?

He is dying. When you clean a goldfish tank you should only do 10% water changes and use dechlorinator, Also if you wash away bacteria it can kill the fish

You may have over fed it. Don’t feed them anymore this week.
