Can I introduce goldfish from separate bowls into one aquarium tank?

Ok let’s be honest. Can this really work? People have them in bowls, I know not for their full life time, but still. Is a 5g too small? If so because the filteration needs to be STRONG? or the fish needs the room? Be honest. Could this work?
