sounds to me like white spot (ich) or fin rot. you can treat it with ich away or melafix.

My first guess would be septicemia, which is a blood infection commonly appearing on the fins, though it could also be ammonia poisoning. What color were the spots?

There could be a number of reasons for these problems. First deaths could have been caused by chlorine in the water, bad ph or sicknesses. The second round could have been caused by overzealous cleaning. What did you use to clean the tank? Hopefully no chemicals. If you took out all the water and scrubbed it down then refilled it and put the fish right back in that’s what did them in. Do you have any left at all? If not, start over from scratch. Get a test kit and make sure you don’t have ammonia/nitrates etc in your water before adding the fish. Let it ‘cycle’ for about 1 week before you start adding your fish (and check the water first). Goldfish produce tons of waste so they can foul their water quickly. Are you using a good/strong filter and what temperature is your tank set for? Goldfish generally like it cooler than tropicals, go for 75 degrees. If you have fish left do not add any others for about two weeks until everything is stable. Periodically check what I mentioned above and when you get things under control add other fish. Do not overcrowd them as this too can induce illnesses. I hope this helps you.

Was the temperature right? Did they have oxygen flowing through? And was the water any different from the previous water, like unpure or something? It may have been the change in the water even though the tank was cleaned. They may have had a hard time transitioning. Sorry about your fish ?
