Mating fantail goldfish?

I have bought a fantail goldfish, and I suspect it’s female. I wondered that if I bought another fantail goldfish, which I can see if it’s male by looking at its ‘posture’, I could add it to the tank and they’d mate? Would the baby necessarily survive? Do I need any equipment?
Thanks x

Most goldfish are not going to mate in a tank. It is extremely hard to tell the male from the female. If they do..they scatter the eggs and half of them are normally eaten or die. Goldfish are not good parents. Goldfish breeding is better in ponds with lots of vegetation and such.
