I want to transfer my goldfish to a bigger aquarium?
Okay well I know I have to let it cycle and blah blah. But I want to use the same gravel and ornaments in the tank they’re in currently. Sooo how am I to do this?? Since I’m supposed to let it cycle for about a week, I want to put the ornaments and gravel beforehand. If I transfer them to the aquarium, will it bother the fish(since the whole tank they’re in will be empty)?
And alsooooooooo how can I transfer the fish without causing them any stress/shock? (if possible)

you can just scoop the gravel and take the ornaments out of the tank its in, clean it off and put it in the new tank, simple as that. The fish’ll be fine in an open tank for a while, it doesnt NEED substrate to survive or anything. If you think it only takes a week to the cycle a tank, you might want to brush over that subject a little bit after you set up the new tank. Once its cycled just get it out with a net and add it to the new tank!

If you are using the same things that you had in the old tank, just switch everything right over. There is enough bacteria to manage the fish load as there is. Make sure you put the old filter over too. To move the fish, use a bucket and scoop them up. Good luck. (:

The ornaments and gravel are covered with beneficial bacteria, so if you put them in the new tank it will cycle a lot faster. Using the old filter will help too. Just put the gravel, ornaments, and filter in the new tank (without washing them). Then add some of the old tank’s water and fill it the rest of the way with fresh water. This won’t cause the fish any more stress than a big water change would. There will probably be a small ammonia spike, but the fish should be able to handle it. Use some AmmoLock if ammonia is a problem.
