Gold fish are pretty easy. You can pretty much feed them whenever you want. I have a black moore and other goldfish in a 35 gallon tank and i feed them a pinch twice a day. They are so huge now. If they live in a bowl you should feed them less as that will make the water dirty if they don’t eat it all.
If you ever are going away and there is no one to look after them, you can get these things at walmart that you put in the tank and they dissolve and release food. There are ones for 3 days and ones for 10 days. Good luck and enjoy your fish!
Black moor goldfish need to be fed more often than other goldfish because they are slow feeders due to their huge eyes. Until your black moors are pleasingly plump, you should feed them at 2 hour intervals up to 5 times a day. Once they are not in danger of starvation, add a power head to the tank so the stronger water current will give them plenty of exercise. Be sure you do not have sharp rocks, plastic plants or other sharp objects in their tank.
You should feed them roughly two pinches in the morning and then the same amount at night. If u feed them like this u can be sure u wont overfeed the fish. Feed them everyday as like humans, fish also get hungry everyday. hope this helps
The real answer is all the time and a tiny amount. All fish except the large predators spend their lives feeding and trying to breed. In the aquarium, the 2 times a day idea seems to be more related to people - before/after work or school.
It depends how much time you have and whether you have an auto feeder.
In terms of overfeeding, some fish eat quickly, others slowly. IMPO, the key objective is that as food sinks, none should get to the tank bottom. GF are greedy things and will eat anything and everything they are offered.
If you are around to feed the fish all day, try a few flakes 6-8 times a day - they should be rooting around in the gravel looking for food .
feeding 6/7 days is a good idea as is including things like daphnia or krill with shells in the diet as it stops the fish getting constipated

I always feed my fish 2 times a day and they look healthy. To decide how much to feed watch them eat and if alot goes to the bottom, feed less
