How many fancy goldfish would fit in a 30 gallon aquarium?

I am new to having an aquarium, and I have just gotten a thirty gallon one with a filter. I have had many fish in the past but I am now considering getting a few fancy goldfish, such as orandas and bubble-eyes. How many fancy goldfish can be kept in a 30 gallon aquarium? What fish get along with goldfish? I want them to be healthy and live long lives so I would appreciate it if I could have some insight. Thank You! =)

    Just 3.

Seriously. Goldfish are messy, and need lots and lots of space. Don’t put anymore than 3 fish in that tank. Actually, 2 is better.

    Goldfish ARE NOT tropical fish.
    They like cold water.
Tropical fish like warm water. Keeping them together is a "no-no".
Also, goldfish produce a lot of poop and pee. It easily poisons all other tank mates.

if its 3 its still overcrowded

people who say 2 are lying! we had orandas in my aquariums for 26 years!!..none died on us well on our first try we did cause we accidenty overcrowded the tank…thats why really 1 in each unless u want a huge pond!

The rule with fish is one inch of fish per gallon…plus you have to calculate growth.

Fully grown, 2 or 3 max

Best fish to keep with fancy goldfish is other fancy goldfish.

When they are small you could put a lot more in, the pet shop may have 20 babies in a 30gal tank. But they cant live that way for life. In good condtions they will grow, to around 6" long and can live for 10 years or so. In over crowded conditions they will soon get stunted, sick and die.

So yeah, go with 2 or 3 and you will end up with big healthy fish that live for years.

2 max. Be sure to do a lot of research on Bubble eyed Goldfish if you’re going to keep them. They have special requirements and should only be kept with other Bubble eyes.
You’ll need more filtration than your tank likely came with. For Goldfish you want filtration rated for at least 2x your tank’s volume. So, for your 30-gallon, you’ll need a filter rated for 60-gallons, or 2 filters rated for 30-gallons each, whatever.
Goldfish should be kept only with other Goldfish.
You will need to cycle your tank before you bring your fish home:

When it does come time to add the fish, be sure to leave at least a few weeks between the two.
    Good luck!

2 Orandas OR 2 other Fancy type of Goldfish for a 30 gallon sounds good to me considering they can grow 6 inches long and are poop machines. Make sure you have double filtration for this sized tank since they make so much waste. And as always, Cycle the tank for 3-6 weeks prior to adding any fish (check out the links) and make sure to purchase liquid testing kits for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

Unfortunately, Goldfish should only be kept with other Goldies (or Koi with torpedo shaped Goldies in a large pond) since they are coldwater. Good luck.

if you want a lot of fish in a small space get tetras you can do about twelve neons and like seven or eight black skirt tetras. Just as an example. If your set on gold fish one or two will fill up that tank. If you just have one then it will be more like having a pet rather than just a collection of fish. I have a tank with several neons and one angel fish. I Kinda have the collection and the pet thing going at once. Enjoy your fish whatever you decide.
