how can i breed my goldfish?
i have one male goldfish which is ready to breed because he has the pimples on the gill covers, the other female goldfish sometimes chases the male around, and then the male chases the female.
they bot live in a 20 gallon tank, they are both 5", they are currently living in the basement with water temperature of 60F. i can tell they still they want to breed because i see the ornaments flipped upside down, the male chases the female very fast.
my question is how do i breed them?, i REALLY REALLY need the fry because i need to feed my big fish, healthy goldfish fry, thats all he eats, live fish. i have a heater that i can use to raise the temp. to 90F. and such, can someone explain me how exactly i should breed them?, i also have a few plants in there. i feed both goldfish: brine shrimp, tubifex worms, shrimp pellets, flakes, goldfish pellets, bloodworms, veggies, and more.
btw, the water is extremely clean, i mean like 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates, and is crystal clear, the filter i have has a 1 year old filter pad, and gravel with growing algae which is a good sign of a well cycled fish tank.

Don’t use your Goldfish as feeders, read this as to why:
http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Thiaminase
If you’re only feeding your larger fish Goldfish it will succumb to a fatal vitamin B1 deficiency. See the list on the above link of fish that ARE suitable to feed.
A 20g is too small to raise Goldfish fry anyway, you’d need several tanks/ponds to separate the parents and fry etc anyway. See this:

first of all give them a seprate place which must b heavily planted temperature must about 26 degree centigrade keep them together for about 2 days feed them on boiled meat and blood worms .don,t let their container where there is a disturbance and use a slow air shower and filteration must be not vey fast or stop the fileteration for some time just give air shower i aquarium not very fast with slow bubbles when male chases female and a bad smell is produced in water it means they have laid eggs that fertilzed also remove both of them from container wait for about 2 days n u,ll c the breed feed them with larva n vegetable crush n ur done:)

It is already breeding time. Yr water & fish condition is good. Water need be only around 75ºF. Goldfishes breed best outdoors, but 60ºF coolest nights. If u cannot put them outdoors, put some unglazed broken burnt clay pieces in the tank to collect algae for the fishes to nibble & entangle drifting eggs. U need about 5 males per female, else many eggs will fall down unfertilized. Get ready immediately with 1 or 2 floating water hyacinths with lush streaming roots to protect the eggs. Disinfect. Float them on the water as soon as laying starts. The eggs will get entangled to the roots, else the fish will eat them up. Feeding live mosquito larvae or daphne are best to induce breeding.
Have 1 or 2 10" burnt clay flower pot with holes blocked & filled with water ready by growing thick layer of algae for the nursery. Table salt ½ teaspoon & outdoor sunlight will hasten algae growth. Glass aquarium with thickly algae coated walls will also do. Wait & pray. Frenzied egg laying & fertilization starts mid morning. A 5" female will lay several thousand eggs, of which about 10% may be left unfertilized. Keep watch, but don’t interfere, even if they eat up a few eggs. Have a siphon handy. Once laying is over, transfer hyacinths, broken clay pieces with eggs, siphoned up loose eggs, all to nursery pot.
At 75ºF eggs take 3-4 days to hatch. Dead eggs grow algae in 1 day. Siphon them out, as they rot fast. Actually an egg grows a head, a tail and starts swimming. Yolk sack remains as belly. The fry are about 1.5mm long. They hang vertically from the algae on the pot wall. Keep close watch as their egg yolk gets consumed & they will need food only thereafter. Food is a pea sized blob of hard boiled egg vigorously shaken in a test tube of water, until it disintegrates into a cloudy liquid. Depending on nos. of fries, pour ¼ test tube of cloudy liquid into pot every 2 hours, nothing after switching off lights. Lights on / off time same as day / night time. Have a handful of red snails to scavenge unused feed, which would otherwise rot. U can’t use filter, as it will kill fries. Double feed after 7 days. Fry deformity & death rate is high - do not despair. When the fries are about ½" size, slowly switch over to other feed. Earthworms & whole wheat coarse flour, very finely chopped with a sharp blade makes a sticky dollop, that can be left in a small dish at the bottom.
When they are 1", start looking for buyers / takers from your huge yield from a 5" female. As the fishes grow, put them in display tanks & normal care. Replenish tank water with rain water whenever possible. Many earth coloured fries will attain glorious red, black or gold colour (depending on parents’ colour) after 1 year. Shall be glad, if you told me how it came off.
