Goldfish tank on porch safe for fish?
Would common goldfish be ok in a large tank on the shady back porch throughout the year in California? Would it be too cold or hot for them to live safely? I know goldfish do great in outside ponds - would an outside tank be completely different?

I would not keep a tank on the porch. The aquarium will heat up too high for goldfish. They should not be kept above 74F.
A pond is most often in the ground and the volume is much greater than the average aquarium, so the water temperature will not rise as drastically. Also, if a pond does rise too high in temperature, a chiller should be bought for the good of the goldfish.

it would really depend on how hot/cold the water gets… there is a much larger volume of water in a pond than in a tank so the temp doesn’t change very quickly on a day to day basis the way it could in your tank…

depends on the tempature

should be ok can’t see it getting to hot their , as far as the cold i remember in germany as a child i used to watch the gold fish under the ice thy just sem to slow down as long as their not fancy gold fish so if you get ice and snow then maby you better bring them in side just so the water dose not freeze over
