Goldfish or Tropical Fish?
In January 2010 im getting a fairly medium fish tank. I can decide wether to get tropical fish or goldfish. I quite like mollys and i saw these nice fan tailed tropical fish with rainbow tails that i also liked. But i also do like Bubble eyes and the common variate or Orandas.
What one should i go for???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All depends on how big or small the "medium" tank is! My idea of "medium" is between 35-55 US gallons or so, what’s yours?
But if you’ve got until January 2010, then you’ve got plenty of time to research proper tank care and what species really need.
My personal preference is tropical fish, purely because of the variety available. Goldfish are pretty high maintenance and due to their size a "medium" sized tank may only be able to hold one or two!

Get goldfish. But they are cold water fish. If you leave them outside in the summer they’ll have a chance of death or living. When its cold outside they will hibernate. If it cold or its fall/winter don’t feed them so much because they won’t eat so much in cold days.

Go with tropical fish, their more prettier and exotic looking. you’ll have more of a variety to choose from. theres all kinds of tropical fish

well keeping fan tailed goldfish doesn’t require many things unlike the mollies and other tropical fish. the goldfish only need filter. but tropical fish need a filter,heater and a air pump(that’s not so important so the filter and heater alone will suffice). i have a community tropical tank with many kinds of fish. a few weeks ago i got a 2 male guppies and 2 very pregnant female guppies. then i put them in the breeding box and guess what? they had babies in less than a week!

I would say go for tropical fish. theyre much more fun to look at than a goldfish. Also goldfish eat way to much. theres a limit on so many types of goldfish but the types of tropical fish that you can purchase are endless. But they are warm water fish so you do have to keep the temperature a little higher than for a goldfish.

tropical fish. most stay small meaning you can get a bunch.
