DYING FISH PLEASE HELP! We are’nt sure what disease he has ?
I have two lion head goldfish, one small fantail, 3 pleco, and 1 sucker fish in one rectangular aquarium. One lionhead goldfish has always had this fungus on the side of his head hanging, like a growth. We have had them for around a year and he has had the growth for as long as we can remember. Recently his scales have been falling off in massive numbers each day until he has a huge white spot covering most of his body on each side. He didn’t have much problems till today when he had: loss of appetite, curved spine, fin rot, undescribable lots of ripped up white skin and hanging pieces of cotton fluff, he is starting to swim on his side and a small number of red spots have devoloped on the top. We really love our fish and have done lots of research into what it possibly could be such as Turbecolosis. WE REALLY NEED TO KNOW what possible disease it is and it is highly not turbecolosis. This is chinese new year and no vets are available. We really love this fish and would please like to know his sickness. Thank YOU so much for reading and helping.

The following is taken from a clinical trial which weas conducted
in 2005: "The herpesvirus of goldfish (also known as Goldfish Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus, GHNV, Cyprinid herpesviris-2, or CyHV-2) was first reported in Asia, then in the US, Australia, and Europe. The acute disease damages blood forming tissues (head kidney), the intestine, and the gills. The most common signs are anemia and patchy areas of dead gill tissue reminiscent of those seen with KHV…."

my guess is streptacocus bactacilus(spelling way off) attacks open wounds can very rarely like most bacteria attack peoples wounds.
normally fatal in fish if under stress situations. quarentien fish asap (put in an other container/ bucket etc away from other fish.) tubrelosis is rare in oz(my home) rotten flesh is bacteria, which one and how it got in/wound i cant say. dont mouth syphon tank just incase.
salt bath may clean wound but may stress him too?
sorry, red spots, rotten flesh, loss of scale, sounds like strep. need antibiotics. ocytetracyclamine or amoxacyline etc
be prepared for worst and quarentine asap.
my condolences.
