What does it say here, oh a minimum of 40 gallon, and you want to put him in a 10 gallon?

Wrong information everywhere, constantly I here from people that get advised from store employees that a pleco can go in a 10 gallon and a goldfish can live in a bowl?!?!

Come on people get real and do some research, before you buy ANY kind of fish

This so called question is intended as an opinion poll

    You’re a little bit of an @sshole aren’t you?

That’s OK, at least your putting the good word out there.

It drives me crazy that they even sell "goldfish bowls"! We should be smarter than this by now.

Thanks for supplying some necessary information to beginning aquarists. I try to promote good information to beginners and continually battle these myths all of the time.
The info is out there, why won’t people look into it ?
Goldfish bowls, I put potted plants into them.

I tried the links you gave they didn’t work for me. But I would like to point out that there are SO MANY stupid people in the world…. The one that always irritates me is "The fishless cycle". Some people think you can run your bacteria growth cycle; when you first set up a tank and have to deal with the ammonia, nitrites, & nitrates by running your tank without fish. Hello. The fish and their waste are the reason this cycle starts.

Keeping a goldfish in a bowl is kinda explained when their life goes from up to 150 years down to 3 years. Of course that is rough, depends a little on which breed of that family (koi, comet, goldfish, all in the carp family). Don’t that say it all. They probally die on purpose just to get out of the tiny little bowl. I have new heard of putting a pleco in a 10 gallon tank before. Those get huge. Of course so do some of the carp.
